Lovely, silky, elegant.
This highly regarded Naramata Bench red was born of Pinot Noir (clones 114, 667, 777) grapes grown on Howling Bluff's estate Summa Quies vineyard. It was fermented with natural wild yeasts then aged 12 months in new, second and third fill French oak barrel for 12 months and only 250 cases were produced.
It has a sensual quality; sweet raspberries and wild cherries, star anise and leather, hazelnuts, violets and cedar chip aromas dominate the nose. The palate is supple and silky with expressive fruit grounded by savoury layers of bacon fat, dried herbs, beet greens and tealeaf.
Lovely.
